| Flotilla X is active unit in the X
District. Our Area of Operations, AOR, starts to the north at the inlet and
extends to the south at the bay. We conduct regular boat safety patrols in
this area daily looking for boaters in need of assistance and conducting a
Waterway Watch. Our Flotilla was chartered in 1976 and has grown in membership since starting as a detachment of Flotilla X. We currently have 150 members, 43 vessels, and 3 aircraft. In addition, many of our members serve the Division, District, and National level as staff officers and elected officers. We work alongside the active duty Coast Guard in many activities. Our operations training frequently involves trainnig with USCG facilities. We also assist with watchstanding, administrative, and cooking duties at the station. A couple of our members are qualified coxswain and crew members and can take a 47 foot Motor Lifeboat out under a safety patrol. If you would like to assist in any of these and other ways, contact the MT Officer. Button Information:

The
USCG is warning people of a danger to navigation in the bay. A barge ran
aground during a storm and tore a hole in the bottom. This let enough water
in to allow the barge to rest on the bar. Unfortunately, the barge moves
with the tide around this one corner. In essence it swings like a vessel at
anchor. The result is that the barge is tearing up the bar and the area
around it. Efforts are underway to overcome the laws to get this barge
salvaged and removed before the ecology is devastated. The barge hauled
rocks and sand so there is no hazardous material concern.
